Description
I obtained this truck in August 2006, (20 years ago!) It was purchased for Land Rover RTV off road competition events and so was modified for this purpose. It was starting from a good place, as an ex Military Defender Truck Cab, it already has the Salisbury rear axle, (only fitted to Military 90's). When I obtained it, it had already been converted from a 2. 5L TD to a 4. 2 V8 EFI from a Classic Range Rover, including 4 Speed Auto box and Transfer box with Viscous coupling, so Permanent 4x4!
It was further modified with a 2" lift, and front and rear diff protection.
Due to the inherent 4. 2 V8 Cylinder liner issues, the vehicle was fitted with a brand new short motor in 2008 on which it has covered 11000 miles. The vehicle has not been used for competition since the new engine was installed.
In 2017 it failed its MOT for excessive rust in the chassis, this was the impetus for a complete rebuild, the main items being a Galvanised chassis, and completely rebuilt Bulkhead. During this rebuild every panel was checked and renewed if any corrosion found, and then resprayed whilst still off the vehicle, so inside and out! If any mechanical part needed replacing it was.
Having said that, it's still a 1990 Land Rover Defender and so still carries a lot of "Character"
I have complete service and maintenance history from birth to today, including receipts for most of the work carried out.
The Vehicle is MOT'd until March 27
