Description
BMW E21 316.
This is a pretty standard car. If you are looking at this you will know what it is, and how rare they are becoming. I bought the car a few months ago, it had been sat in a garage for a while. I rescued the car and have taken it from where it was to where it is now. I fitted new brakes all round, new tyres, clutch hydraulics, battery, points/ condenser and rebuilt the carburettor amongst other things. The mileage is genuine and I am the third owner. The bodywork in my humble opinion is good with all the major structure, i. e sills, inner wings, boot floor etc, all the usual places that E21's corrode in!) showing no corrosion at all, but the paintwork I think needs attention. The garage it was in leaked slightly and there are a few places where it needs tidying. Dont get me wrong, I drive the car and get loads of comments about how nice it is, but I think due to the rarity of the car it deserves to be taken to the next level, something I have neither the facilities or the skills to do. It even has the original Blaupunkt radio, speakers and aerial (with aerial key and instructions!). the Interior needs no more than a good clean in my opinion, and it drives well. I have done over 300 miles since I recommissioned the car, and it drives well, like a typical 70's car. Under the bonnet again needs tidying up, but I've seen mint exterior cars that are worse. The car is a survivor, and probably should be kept that way, but of course it will be up to the next owner what they do with it. Reason for selling? I have a few classic bikes and cars, and when I saw the car in the garage I 'felt sorry' for it, and saw it as a massive challenge. As a time served mechanic, my 'challenge' is now done, and having driven the car I am not sure its for me, so it deserves in my opinion to go to someone who really wants one of these cars. This is the first generation 3 series from BMW, and as such an iconic car, Included are some photos, please ask if you require any further information/ pictures. The car has a full service history up until when it was stored, even a facsimile of the original advert when the last owner bought it!
