Description
1976 BMW R100/ 7 – Genuine 18k Miles – Exceptional Original Condition
Description:
An outstanding example of the first-year 1000cc Airhead. This 1976 R100/ 7 is a remarkably "unmolested" survivor, showing a genuine 18, 000 miles 28300 kilometres from new. The bike spent it’s early years in South Africa until it was imported and registered to me in January 2015. Unlike many bikes of this era that have been modified or "cafe-raced," this machine remains in its factory configuration and superb original condition.
Provenance & Maintenance:
The bike has been fastidiously maintained with a focus on long-term mechanical health. Recent specialist-level maintenance includes:
• Top End: Valve clearances checked and set. Cylinder heads correctly torqued to 25 ft-lb to preserve original stud integrity.
• Seals & Geometry: Pushrod tube seals have been addressed; tubes are correctly oriented at the 1. 8 factory depth.
• Fuel System: Bing CV carburetors overhauled balanced and set to baseline mixture specs. The bike runs beautifully on E5 fuel with appropriate stabilizers used to protect original components.
• Instrumentation: The original twin-pod cluster is fully functional, including the critical charging (GEN) circuit and all warning lamps.
Condition:
The original paintwork and finishes are in excellent order, displaying the kind of patina only found on a low-mileage, well-stored machine. The bike starts on the button, idles with the characteristic "Airhead" rhythm, and pulls strongly and smoothly through the gears.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a high-capacity / 7 that hasn't been tampered with—ideal for a collector or a rider who appreciates the unadulterated BMW touring experience.
