AMM International are pleased to offer this extensively developed 2002 BMW M5 (E39), finished in the iconic Le Mans Blue and built over a number of years into a genuinely well-sorted, supercharged example.

Originally supplied to Northern Ireland, the car came with a strong factory specification including glass sunroof, heated electric seats with memory, professional navigation with TV function, xenon headlights, park distance control and anthracite headlining. It had two owners in Northern Ireland before being brought to the UK in 2014, where it has remained with the same owner since – the individual responsible for the build and long-term development.

The car has been developed progressively over time with a clear focus on usability, reliability and performance rather than a single-stage modification approach.

The supercharger system was completed in 2019 by Evolve Automotive using a Rotrex C38-series centrifugal setup, running approximately 4. 5–5 PSI. The car produces a verified 529. 8 BHP, supported by dyno documentation. Power delivery remains smooth, linear and consistent with the character of the S62 V8, with a significant uplift in response and mid-range urgency.

Supporting hardware includes a CNC-machined billet plenum, developed specifically for forced induction following known limitations of OEM units under boost, along with a fully integrated intercooling system. This features a side-mounted intercooler setup designed to retain original bodywork without requiring front-end modification.

Fueling has been uprated to match the increased performance, with upgraded injectors and a high-flow system including a Walbro 400 LPH in-tank fuel pump. Cooling has also been addressed through an upgraded system incorporating a CSF race radiator, ensuring stable operating temperatures under load.

The car benefits from a full Supersprint exhaust system, delivering a refined but purposeful V8 tone – present when required but never intrusive during normal driving.

Prior to forced induction, the engine underwent a full preventative refresh in 2015 including rod bearings, timing chains, guides, tensioners and a complete VANOS rebuild. VANOS operation is smooth and quiet with no rattles or fault codes.

In 2025, the car received further servicing including supercharger maintenance, and has also been serviced again within the last few hundred miles. A brand new battery has also recently been fitted, ensuring optimal starting reliability and electrical performance. The engine starts cleanly from cold with no smoke or untoward noises, idles smoothly and shows no signs of excessive oil consumption.

The car retains its 6-speed manual transmission, paired with an uprated clutch fitted by Evolve Automotive. Gear selection is precise with no synchro issues, and clutch engagement is smooth with no slip. A short-shift kit has also been fitted, improving shift feel and precision.

The chassis has been comprehensively upgraded with a full poly-bushed suspension setup throughout, combined with Intrax and Bilstein components, Eibach anti-roll bars and a Quaife ATB limited-slip differential, providing improved traction and more consistent power delivery.

Braking is handled by a Brembo GT system with 8-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers, delivering strong, consistent stopping performance with no judder.

The car sits on 19-inch Cades Apollo alloy wheels in a correct staggered setup, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4, offering strong grip with good tread remaining. A recent professional wheel alignment ensures the car drives straight and true. Wheel spec: Front: 8. 5J ET15 – Rear: 9. 5J ET20 – PCD: 5×120. Supported by 5mm TPI spacers and fitted using 12mm x 1. 5 (32mm) tapered wheel bolts, with new BMW centre caps fitted.

In 2021, the car underwent a full windows-out exterior repaint in its original Le Mans Blue, carried out to a very high standard with all trims and mouldings replaced using genuine BMW parts. Following this, the car was fully protected with paint protection film (PPF), preserving the finish long-term. As part of this refresh, new OEM headlights were also fitted, completing the front-end. A carbon fibre rear diffuser provides a subtle visual enhancement without detracting from the original design.

Paintwork presents with excellent depth and consistency across all panels, with panel fit remaining correct throughout. The underside is clean and well preserved, with no corrosion concerns in typical E39 areas. The interior has been fully retrimmed in Jaguar Magnolia leather with diamond stitching and BMW embroidery across the seats, door cards and centre console, executed to a very high standard to create a bespoke OEM+ environment. The cabin retains the original E39 layout and driving position, while significantly elevating material quality and tactile feel. A Dynavin N6 system has been integrated, providing modern navigation and connectivity while maintaining an OEM-style appearance.

Now showing 100, 600 miles, the car reflects long-term enthusiast ownership and continuous investment rather than intermittent use.

It comes with a comprehensive history file, dyno sheet, all supporting documentation and a full set of keys including 3 remote fob keys and 1 valet key. It is HPI clear with MOT valid until July 2026.

Cold starts are immediate, the engine idles smoothly and the car drives exactly as expected with no warning lights or known faults. Brake performance is strong and consistent, and tyre condition is good across all corners.

There is comfortably in excess of £60, 000 invested in the development of this vehicle over time, and it shows clearly in both its presentation and the way it drives. The build has been carried out with a clear focus on long-term reliability and usability, resulting in a car that feels cohesive and properly engineered rather than overbuilt.

What sets this example apart is not individual modifications, but the coherence of the entire build – every element has been engineered to work together as a unified OEM+ performance package.

On the road, it retains the analogue feel that defines the E39 M5, with hydraulic steering feedback, progressive power delivery and a level of engagement that modern performance cars rarely replicate.

This is a matching numbers example, with original engine and VIN consistency throughout, supported by documented ownership history.

It is a properly developed, carefully built and genuinely sorted E39 M5 that stands apart from typical modified examples.
