Honda CBR900 RRP Fireblade 1993
I’ve owned and worked on these superb early SC28 models for over 20 years, this is one of my own personal bikes that I’ve owned for the last 6 years. A lovely original well sorted example that goes as good as it looks. I’ve just done a 50 mile run on it today and it doesn’t disappoint! It’s In the sweet spot of conditions being showable and useable.
These were the absolute game changer of sports bikes. When Honda launched the Fireblade in 1992 it blew the competition into the weeds and took rival manufacturers years to catch up and even longer to better it but they could never better the build quality and reliability. With only a two year production run of the original twin headlight bike, It's little wonder how these early models have become so desirable.
The purple, pink and white being the most recognisable and lairiest colour scheme came in ’93 for one year only, often confused with the earlier red/ white/ blue colour scheme.
UK bike from new, registered on the 1st June 1993 wearing its original Honda bodywork with no modifications except from a rear hugger.

In 2022 we carried out a major service and refresh on it, this included valve clearances, all filters and fluids, spark plugs, new steering head bearings, forks rebuilt with new seals, dust seals and oil. Carbs stripped and rebuilt, brakes stripped and rebuilt, new Bridgestone BT016R tyres and probably some other stuff I’ve forgotten! All parts have been either genuine Honda or high quality oem from David Silver with receipts here.
It’s since had the fluids refreshed again and a fresh battery and is 100% on the button, fires instantly on 4 cylinders, no hesitation, no flat spots, clean and fast throughout the rev range, just how they should be! A very nice, well sorted Fireblade.
One of the few genuine examples around. Most of these early bikes have now been restored and returned to ‘standard’ specification wearing aftermarket decal kits, fairings and pattern Chinese parts, there’s also an increased amount of import bikes conveniently with no history to verify their past, mileage or previous owners… Not the case here.
As mentioned it’s mostly all original, I’ve had the top yoke professionally refurbished due to the common scratches from key rings over the years and the screen brace refinished in the oem gloss black finish. I managed to source a new old stock exhaust end can (94 spec) at considerable cost for it and the original downpipes have been blasted and coated, they were surprisingly good for a 30 year old mild steel exhaust.
It’s not been ‘restored or over restored’ as many others are with over polished parts and fresh bright zinc everywhere, this one just looks right and one of the reasons I’ve kept it for so long.
One third of the cost of a new Fireblade, depreciation proof and guaranteed to get more interest and respect at the bike meets.
