Description
Genuine low mileage FJ80 VX in the best colour which has been properly modified with quality parts and accessories all of which work. Well maintained regardless of cost and with a current MOT with no advisories. Ready to go anywhere, anytime, just add your sleeping / interior outfit. I've owned 80s for 10+ years but have decided to give up overlanding. Up front there is an ARB bull bar with Warn Tabor 12000 winch with new unused Armourline Synthetic winch rope. To this are brackets for the stainless spade (included but not pictured). Along the sides are ARB brush bars connected to rock sliders / side steps. Also fitted are the much desired Big Country gullwing doors. At the rear is an ARB swing away rear bumper, with stainless steel water tank and gas bottle holder on the left. Also integrated into the left is a fold away table to put your gas cooker on and a wire tray with the reversing cameras for near and far. On the right swing away is the spare wheel and drinks tray. Tyres are 33" BFG AT KM02 with around 10mm of tread on each.
Underneath you will find three levels of underbody protection: for the sump, the gearbox and the additional 150 litre long range fuel tank which sits where the spare wheel used to be (total capacity now 260 litres). For additional load carrying capacity airbags are also fitted to the rear suspension with the valve inside the boot cubby.
On top is a top quality flat Rhino Rack for fitting your roof tent. Attached to this is a light bar up front and rear Raptor flood lights. Bush wires are also fitted to the front wings whilst on the bonnet is a Bluntforce bonnet cargo webbing.
Inside, the head lining has been recently replaced and a BluntForce cargo net hangs above the boot space. Discreetly fitted in the boot cubby is a National Luna 25A Battery to Battery charger / MPPT solar controller to charge any leisure battery and/ or solar panels you care to fit. Remote monitoring of the charge status of this and vehicle battery is through the monitor on the centre console next to the gear changes. On the other side of the console is the gearbox oil temperature monitor and the CB radio. Above this is the double DIN Pioneer / Apple car play and buttons for the electric aerial which works perfectly. Switches for the light bar and work lights sit where the factory cup holder would be. On each front door are custom arm rests with integral cup holders. The screen for the rear cameras attaches to the rear view mirror. To the right of the dashboard in driver view is the fuel gauge for the long range tank. The steering wheel is a custom hand stitched restoration. The lower tailgate door has custom storage fitted and is currently used to store recovery equipment (optional extra)
Mechanically, the car has been properly raised approx 100mm. Extended aeroquip brake hoses facilitate the increased height as do roll bar mount extensions. Springs and shocks are Slinky at the rear and Pedders springs up front (the fronts having been replaced at the last MOT because they were both found to have been broken following a trip incorporating the Strata Florida). All suspension is Polybushed. The gearbox has an oil cooler mounted in front of the new radiator and new condenser. All diff locks work perfectly, the front and rear having been replaced with new. The Centre diff has the remote dashboard switch which allows the low range to be selected without locking the diff (important on steep tarmac switchback descents). The hubs, swivels, engine, gearbox etc are all leak free. The A/ C requires recharging as it is not very cold anymore. Isolators for the winch and the auxilliary battery/ systems are found next to the battery. On the retro fit breathers for the axles and gearbox join together on the bulkhead and exit up the Safari Snorkel under to the Donaldson Top Spin Cyclone pre-filter. Front and rear axles have been full refurbished with new bearings etc and the transfer box has been refurbished. Engine runs beautifully and has 5k oil changes - always.
Status of Known Weakpoints on an 80: Bonnet - no pealing, minor rust on front edge; Tailgate - minor blister on bottom of window; Wheel Arches - quality repairs to front wheel arches as well as to the rears where large holes normally appear in the rear valance. No water leaks inside.
Conversion work carried out Craddock and Overland Services.
A variety of optional extras are available and include: recovery items, TMax pump, 10 ton bottle jack, MaxTrax, Indel TB13 litre compressor fridge, useful spares.
