Delivered new at Toyota Sidcup on 1st August 1986 1987, this Mk1 'a' MR2 was purchased by (purportedly) a local nightclub owner in South East London who serviced it through local Toyota religiously regardless of mileage until sometime in 2006 and c 17k miles. Every service stamp, receipt, MOT certificate is available.
It stayed in SE London doing c 800 miles in 2007, (possibly with the same owner) and c 3, 500 miles in 2008 to 21, 497 in Feb 09.
The car then passed to a new owner in April 2009 in Newcastle Under Lyme accumulating a further c 700 miles to 22, 191 in February 2011.
In early 2011 the car passed to a dealer/ collector in South Wales who did only a few hundred miles before I bought in in May 2011 at c 22, 500 miles.
I used it only in dry conditions across that summer and SORNed it at the end of August 2011 and put into storage. It has been stored undercover and started regularly throughout my ownership. I have re MOT’ed it and drove it sporadically across 2014 and again in 2018, again only in dry conditions.
In late December 2023 it underwent significant floor level restoration by Deeside based Toyota MR2 specialist MR2- Ben. This included removal of all original underseal, and shock absorbers, welding and resealing. Also rebuild of suspension with Coil overs, new pads, discs caliper kits cambelt, water pump. Fully documented with pictures available.
Current mileage now c 23, 406 SORN. Will have 12moth MOT on sale.
The paintwork is original throughout, although now has the odd pit that could do with touching up. No evidence of accident repair / respray. All lights and electrics in working order, all seals good. Inside is immaculate and still smells like new. Bonnet and boot contents as original and clean.
The car runs like new, amazing documented history including purchase documentation, owner manual, 2 keys and many old tax discs. It is super to drive, balanced and reliable as an everyday useable classic.
