I bought this bike 20 years with 18, 000 miles on the clock and have adored every mile since, a brilliant super-smooth and for a 550, a very quick machine. 50 bhp at back wheel with road tests topping 120mph. Paintwork is all original and excellent condition, genuine Yamaha solid exhaust system and silencers, Any small replacements have been genuine Yamaha parts. Clutch and gearbox ok, engine nice and quiet, brakes good with braided hoses, Avon RoadRider tyres with plenty of tread, recent Motorrad battery, new swinging-arm bushes fitted last year. Self-cancelling indicators control unit has been replace with standard unit due to the unavailability of original units. MOTs going back years and original warranty certificate indicates that the machine has matching and original frame and engine numbers. Both original Yamaha keys. It has been a super reliable machine, you will have to go a long way to find a better one. Neither the engine, frame or cycle parts have ever been apart (IMHO machines that have been rebuilt rarely run as good as original) and and I am so sad to see it go. I've survived into my 80s and have decided that it is time to stop riding due to pain, hence the sale. I just hope it goes to a new home that loves it as much as i have done.
