Description
This is my MG Tf Stepspeed that I'm reluctantly selling. I saved this from being scrapped due to HGF it had been run for some time like that and the whole cooling system was contaminated with oil.
I saved several Tf's and decided this was a keeper and have had it for 10 years. The mileage is 63000.
I rebuilt the engine with a new cylinder head and one piston and liner of similar age, uprated oil rail liners shimmed nto manufacturers spec amd MLS head gasket fitted. of course a new timing belt water pump and oil pump fitted. A new starter motor, ignition coils and leads, plugs and engine mounts.
All the hoses were replaced and PRT thermostat with low level alarm kit fitted. Stainless steel underbody pipes fitted and all the gearbox oil cooler pipes replaced. The radiator was fully flushed of oil including the heater matrix.
While the engine was out all the engine bay was cleaned and all the brake pipes replaced ans stainless steel hoses all round. New rear brake calipers fitted and the fronts overhauled a new brake master cylinder and servo fitted as well. ( the original one is available) New discs and pads fitted all round.
Both sub-frames replaced with powder coated ones with new mounts and bolts. The offside wish bone replaced as well as nearside upper ball joint.
One area of the offside rear sill was repaired and all the cavities treated with Bilt Hamber S40. The underside of the body was cleaned and rust treated where necessary then painted with stone chip and treated with under body wax.
The headlamps refurbished new numberplate lamps fitted new high level brake lamp as well.
The interior treated to new leather seat covers with air adjustable lumber support matching new door cards and console lids fitted to brighten the interior. The hood is good and has a nearly new rear window I have a wind stop (not fitted) there are 2 keys and a spare blank, one remote fob but another as yet not programmed. All the air intakes are stainless steel as well. There are lots of other little jobs been done as well like new door window seals etc. A good used carpet has been fitted to complete the job. The whole project cost over £4000 and all the work carried out by myself as this was a keeper. I sold my MBG GT that I had for 20 years and MG Midget for the same period along with another MG a Roadster but couldn't part with the Tf untill now.
Unfortunately age catches up with you and I must part with it.
To be honest the only thing not refurbished are the wheels that could do with some attention. Did I mention that the colour is Tahiti Blue that really makes it stand out. I've hardly used the car in the last 18 months due to a move and the MOT runs out in July but I'll gladly get it tested before its sale.
