Description
Norton Atlas 750cc 1966 in excellent original condition and running very well. Lovely to ride with great character and starts well.
Superb Norton Featherbed handling with great torque from the Atlas engine. Braking improved with the Triumph Twin Leading Shoe front brake which I’ve found is much better than the normal Commando alternative ( original included ).
The engine has been overhauled with new Commando Pistons and new BigEnd shells as well as a later oil pump and timing chain. The gearbox Layshaft bearing has been replaced with a FAG Roller and general inspection found all OK. The Lucas K2F magneto works well and retains some originality. Fitted with single carburettor conversion for simplicity and smoother running ( originals included ).
The paint finish and chrome is all excellent with all new controls and wheel rims. The fuel tank appears to be new which has been beautifully refinished in the correct period colour Burgundy. Rear luggage rack and matching topbox.
Matching engine & frame numbers and imported in 1999 now with age related registration number and Historic vehicle class so no Road Tax or MOT requirement.
Tyres are Bridgestone Battle Wing giving much better grip than standard types and a safer feeling.
Slight faults are the rear original mudguard has marks showing through the new chrome and one silencer has a dent.
I have to reduce my collection because of moving home. I bought it 2 years ago as a reminder of one I had in 1968. It was an import in 1999.
