Description
Up for sale at North Devon Classic Cars, from long term ownership, is a lovely example of the sought-after Sunbeam Alpine Series V, just in time for summer!
Launched by the Rootes Group in 1959, the Alpine became a rival to the MGB, but was always much rarer, with production of around 70, 000 up until 1968 (compared to some 500, 000 'Bs.
First registered in 1967, this example is towards the end of production, and a Series V (5), with the stronger 5 bearing crank 1725cc four-pot producing a healthy 93hp, of which 19, 000 were produced.
The car is resplendent in Mediterranean Blue with black interior trim, with its original cream wheels and hub caps in place and in great condition. The bodywork I would think has had a respray at some point, but it presents very nicely indeed, with great shut lines and consistency to the finish.
We have serviced the car here (including plugs), cleaned, rebuilt and tuned the carburettors (it is on the correct Strombergs) and the car sits on 4 good modern tyres. There is a modern electric fuel pump installed under the bonnet, which is nice and quiet. There is also an electronic ignition distributor fitted to the car.
Otherwise it is lovely and standard, wanting for very little from its new owner, other than using! On the road it drives very well, steers sharply and stops straight. The 1725 pulls cleanly and even returns decent fuel economy.
There is a good amount of history with the car. The hood appears to have very little age to it.
Part exchange considered and delivery available, please ask.
