Sunbeam is a British automobile marque, originally produced in Wolverhampton. Sunbeam originated from John Marston's Japanware factory, founded in 1859. In the early 1900s, Sunbeam enjoyed numerous successes in motorsport, notably at Brooklands, in the Grand Prix, in the Dieppe Auto Cup, and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Let us not forget the famous speed record cars, the "Blue Bird" and the "Sunbeam 1000HP", which left their mark on Pendine Sands and Daytona Beach. In 1953, the "Sunbeam-Talbot Alpine" appeared, a two‑seater roadster developed by dealer "Sunbeam-Talbot" George Hartwell, intended for rallying. In 1954, the name "Talbot" was dropped and "Sunbeam" became the brand for sports cars. That same year, the Alpine was renamed to "Sunbeam Alpine". Alpine production ceased in 1956, replaced by the "Sunbeam Rapier". The "Sunbeam 90 Mark III" was produced from 1954 to 1957. On the grille, the model is listed as the "Sunbeam Supreme". The convertible variant disappeared in 1955. In total, around 2, 250 examples of the "Sunbeam Alpine MK I & III" were produced, of which only around 200 would exist today! A rare car indeed!

The Sunbeam Talbot Alpine Register brings together all Talbot, Sunbeam Talbot and Sunbeam cars produced by Rootes between 1936 and 1956.
The club, founded in 1969, has 729 members worldwide, including 91 in the United States/ Canada, 112 in the rest of the world (including 9 in the Netherlands, 8 in Belgium, 13 in France, 12 in Germany) and a little over 500 in the United Kingdom. The club publishes an informative magazine, Stardust, every two months.

Special note regarding the special engine
I re‑examined the engine bay images. The engine is fitted with the bent intake special carburettor (Rootes parts catalogue description for the 'pancake'), a Solex twin‑barrel carb, the inlet manifold, the centrifuge air filter, and the 'fishtail' inlet. However, the correct oil filler cap with the breather pipe from the air filter is not present. The rocker cover is also fitted with a ventilation duct support plate from an Alpine MKI. The chassis number is A3013765 LRX, which does not correspond to any of the 93 factory special models (46 RHD and 47 LHD). I believe this car is equipped with a Special engine or at least with the head, manifolds and twin‑carburettor from a Special engine.
