The Appeal
The Mk1 Range Rover may well be one of the most historically significant cars ever to roll off a British production line. Effectively kicking off the passenger SUV trend that's now so widespread, this boxy off-roader was built for a real go-anywhere, do-anything attitude.
This example is a 1972 ‘Suffix A’ Range Rover from the second year of full production. The ‘Suffix A’ VIN cars were produced for three years, from 1970 to January 1973, and only went through minor cosmetic changes during this period. In that sense, they're perhaps the purest expression of the formula - the Range Rover as it was intended by its designers before the luxury aspect took over the nameplate.
This 1972 example has been treated to a comprehensive body-off rebuild and respray, completed to a very good standard. The current owner acquired the vehicle approximately two years ago for their classic car collection and has since completed the remaining small jobs to bring the restoration to completion.
Having recently passed its MOT, which remains valid until January 2027, this Mk1 Range Rover presents an opportunity to acquire a comprehensively restored example that's ready to enjoy.
