Description
1989. 999cc. 4 speed manual gearbox.
New MOT. Recent new clutch & cable, timing belt, starter motor, new rear brakes including drums. Recent new tyres all round, including spare. Wheels refurbished. New wheel centre caps. Originals available to new owner. Wheel changing jack, wheelbrace and reversible screwdriver present. 2 sets of keys. All locks working.
Mileage of 70595 has hardly gone up since I bought the car last year.
It’s had 8 previous keepers according to DVLA.
Original glass with registration number etched on.
Bodywork bright, clean and presentable but not perfect. Some welding done by previous owner. Interior not bad but drivers seat upholstery damaged as in photos. Small hole in carpet in driver’s footwell. The alternator light glows very faintly with the engine running, but it’s been checked and is charging.
Because it’s so old, it’s got a carburettor and a points ignition with a condenser, so there are no modern electronics or an ECU to ruin your life. I’ll stop there before I talk myself out of selling it.
This is a 36 year old, unrestored car so please don’t expect perfection.
V5 in my name.
Cash on collection or bank transfer only.
£2750 ono. I bought this car last summer for nostalgic reasons, which were that I had several of them in the early 90s. That said, it’s not practical for me to keep or run a car like this now, as I have other cars for regular use. This one is on a classic insurance policy with an agreed value of £3, 000. In case it’s of any interest, I’m 60 this year and the premium for me was £127. It’s been garaged all the time in my ownership, and the previous owner kept it in his workshop, so it hasn’t been outside in the rain or left outside to rot like many others. I’ve repaired a few issues during the time I’ve had it, such as replacing the missing tailgate screenwash jet and a few dashboard bulbs which had blown. I’ve also replaced the front indicator lenses with the correct orange ones. I also replaced the rocker cover gasket which had a slight leak on it.
The exhaust leak and number plate light which were MOT advisories on the most recent MOT have been attended to. Number plate light was a dirty connection behind the rear bumper, and the exhaust manifold gasket has now been replaced. It’s done 201 miles since the last MOT. When I bought the car I filled it with petrol 97 octane, not that inferior stuff !) and it’s hardly been anywhere so it’s still showing ¾ of a tank. Please don’t ask me the MPG because I’ve no idea. There are various invoices with the car, including one for an oil and filter change in June 2024. According to the paperwork, it had a new battery a few years ago and one replacement shock absorber, although I don’t know which one. There’s also a Haynes manual that goes with the car. No mod cons, no modern safety features. Car technology has advanced massively since these minimalist old Pandas were a common sight on the roads. It certainly feels small and vulnerable around modern traffic.
