This low ownership 1997 example comes in the 840 Ci SPORT form. Being built in 1997 means that it has the later M62 4. 4 ltr V8 Engine and the diagnostics system BMW added to their cars that year onwards.
It comes with Full Service History, a no advisory MOT valid until Sept ‘27 and a copy of the original factory build sheet giving the colour name and the options chosen. When measured against ‘Timms E31 Buyer Guide’ it ticks all the boxes so it is in a very good running order with everything working and no warning lights. Only 4 owners from new.
Features
SPORT - This was a big upgrade from the normal 840 Ci. The new owner could choose features from the CSI options at the time. Atlantis Metallic from the CSI palette was chosen for the outside colour. Just 26 for the UK were finished in this colour, this one being the first of them. The ‘individual interior package’ was selected in lotus white leather with piping to match the outside colour plus luxury padded door cards. There are probably just 3 or 4 840 Ci Sport cars with this combination. So very rare indeed. The original owner must have ordered these options over heated seats and cruise control as these were not selected. It is not to say these cannot be added now, as the cruise control kits can be obtained from dismantlers like AWSR quite easily.
Other SPORT upgrades were the suspension, M sport mirrors and multi coloured stitching on the steering wheel. Probably the most noticeable Sport feature is the CSi aero kit valances all round and the BBS dished polished wheels, all fitted at manufacture.
Extras
Factory fitted boot spoiler from new. This finishes off the silhouette of the car, giving it panache and a subtle sporty look, lifting it from looking quite plain.
The original charcoal velvet head lining has been restored and kept complete with the fully functional sun roof.
Underneath everything is wax oiled and has been fitted with stainless steel exhausts, completing the bright look with the wheels.
The interior is in excellent condition.
The paintwork is virtually swirl free, a few small blemishes, no rust. We have enjoyed the amazing experience of having this car for the last 13 years but we are shortly loosing our dry storage. This is an opportune time to give someone else the chance to enjoy!
