Description
A really lovely little 90, in all round good condition, solid chassis and bulkhead, relatively straight body panels although the paint has patina. The vehicle prior to my custodianship lived its entire life on a farm, with just 2 owners before me, and the previous since 1990, for a vehicle of this age and that’s lived this one’s life it’s been very well cared for and did minimal field and off road work.
The 2. 5 12j diesel won’t win any races, although it starts first time every time, and happily motors on at its own pace. It does smoke a bit on start up but soon clears, and does have a few oil leaks, but, this is to be expected. The gearbox is quiet and as direct as they ever were, there’s no clonks or lashing from the diffs, high/ low and diff lock all work as they should, and the brakes are fantastic.
Overall, it drives excellently, and is a real pleasure to bumble around in.
I’ve not owned the vehicle for a huge length of time, but have completed a fair amount of work, she’s had; 4 new intake valves, a new head gasket, new alternator and power steering belts. A small amount of welding on the chassis (1 small plate) a full underseal, new trailing arm bushes, new lights, bumper, seats, the canvas roof conversion and a new set of tyres, and of course a full service - there’s probably more I’m forgetting.
Selling to free up funds and space for new projects. Overall this old 90 has bags of character, and drives superbly, the bodywork shows signs of a working yet well cared for life. I’ll be sad to see it go but it will make an excellent usable classic Land Rover for someone to use and enjoy well into the future, with the added advantage of nearly being 40 years old and of historic status.
