1967 Maserati Quattroporte i rött med svart interiör.
An increasingly rare example of Maserati’s iconic first generation Quattroporte, combining elegant Italian styling with the marque’s legendary V8 power. Introduced in the 1960s as one of the world’s first true high performance luxury saloons, the Quattroporte remains an important and highly collectible Maserati model today.
This car presents as an honest and original example with excellent presence and character throughout. The bodywork, interior and overall feel of the car retain the charm and authenticity that is often lost in heavily restored examples.
The car has spent a number of years in dry storage and should be viewed as a recommissioning project to take to the next level. As with any nearly 60 year old Italian car that has not been in regular use, there are areas that a new owner may wish to improve or refresh depending on intended use and standards. This has been reflected in the asking price.
During my ownership, over £10, 000 has been spent on the car. Recent expenditure includes servicing and specialist work carried out by Brodie Engineering in 2018, recognised Citroën and Maserati specialists, together with further servicing and more recent work by Migliore Cars, a respected Ferrari and Maserati independent specialist.
The interior wood has been expertly restored by Chapman & Cliff, which greatly enhances the already elegant cabin, while additional works include new door seals supplied by McGrath Maserati.
The car is accompanied by its original owner’s manual, partial history file and a copy of a previous California Certificate of Title.
The interior remains a particularly attractive aspect of the car, with beautiful detailing, instruments and atmosphere that make these early Quattroposes feel so special and distinctive.
UK registration LKE 452E. I bought the car because I have always loved the understated elegance of the first generation Quattroporte. It has a very different character to most Italian classics of the period, combining genuine luxury and practicality with the sound and feel of a Maserati V8.
What stood out to me most was the originality and presence of the car. It feels authentic and unspoiled, with the sort of charm that is difficult to replicate in restored examples.
My favourite thing about the car is simply the way it makes an occasion out of even standing still. The proportions, styling and detailing are incredibly elegant, and the red paintwork suits the shape exceptionally well, giving the car real presence.
They are also becoming increasingly rare to see on the road, particularly early examples like this, and I believe the first generation Quattroporte still represents very good value within the world of important 1960s Italian classics.
