Description
For sale is my LHD Intermeccanica 356 Speedster recreation, currently located near Marbella, Spain.
The car is UK registered, declared manufactured in 1973, first UK registered in 1995, and has historic vehicle status / tax-exempt status. It is showing approximately 5, 500 miles and comes with a full history folder, build/ service documentation, receipts, and recent maintenance.
It is based on the classic 1963 Porsche 356 Speedster style, with LHD layout, open-top Speedster proportions and period-inspired detailing.
It is powered by a 2. 0L air-cooled engine with a 4-speed manual gearbox, dual twin-choke carburettors, electronic ignition, front disc brakes, stainless steel exhaust system, aluminium K&N air filters, chromed fan cover, braided hoses and breather system.
The car is currently finished in a bespoke black cherry metallic pearl wrap with black ghost stripe and gold decals. Underneath the wrap, the car is finished in Porsche blue. Exterior details include leather bonnet straps, period badges, classic fog lamps, upgraded LED headlights with daytime running lights, classic EMPI alloy wheels, black mohair hood, side windows and black tonneau cover with cream piping.
The interior is finished in cream leather with matching carpets, black and cream over-mats, a Nardi wood-rim steering wheel, cream-faced Smiths instruments and sound system with CD/ radio. The interior presents well overall but has some age-related wear/ patina, as expected with use.
A battery isolator switch has also been fitted, which is a useful addition for storage and occasional use.
The car presents very well, drives superbly, and has clearly been cared for. Recent work includes seals/ overhaul and general maintenance. It comes with a full folder of receipts, service history and documentation.
This is an Intermeccanica-built 356 Speedster recreation, not an original Porsche 356. It is a beautiful, usable and well-documented classic-style Speedster with the benefit of LHD, low mileage, UK registration and historic vehicle status.
The car can be viewed in Spain. Transport can be arranged to the UK, France or Spain for a serious buyer, typically around £1, 000, or the buyer is welcome to arrange their own collection/ transport.
Sensible offers considered for a clean, straightforward sale. This is a very special car because it gives you the look, feel and theatre of a classic 1963-style Porsche 356 Speedster without the cost or anxiety of owning an original Porsche 356.
It has the perfect ingredients: left-hand drive, open-top Speedster styling, 2. 0L air-cooled character, 4-speed manual gearbox, beautiful proportions, low mileage, historic UK registration and a full documentation folder. It looks fantastic from every angle and gets attention everywhere it goes.
This car is a true head-turner. It has previously been used for a French Vogue Marilyn Monroe-style photoshoot, which says a lot about how desirable and photogenic it is. It has that classic Speedster glamour: low, elegant, open-top, instantly recognisable and impossible to ignore. It is the sort of car people stop to photograph, ask about and admire wherever it goes.
The colour combination is one of the best things about the car. The bespoke black cherry metallic pearl wrap looks deep and elegant in the sun, while the black ghost stripe, gold decals, leather bonnet straps, cream leather interior and Nardi wood-rim steering wheel give it a really premium period feel. Under the wrap, the car is finished in Porsche blue, which is a strong colour in its own right and gives a future owner options.
It is also very usable. It starts, drives and presents very well, and the 2. 0L engine gives it enough performance to be enjoyable without losing the charm of a lightweight classic-style roadster. The upgraded lighting, front disc brakes, stainless exhaust, electronic ignition, battery isolator switch and recent maintenance make it a much more practical car to enjoy than a fragile original classic.
I bought it because it has huge charm: it looks beautiful, sounds right, feels special, and turns even a short drive into an occasion. It is exactly the sort of car that suits coastal roads, sunny weekends, events, cafes, hotels, weddings, photoshoots or simply enjoying as a weekend toy.
It is only for sale because it is not being used enough. For someone who wants a stylish, documented, LHD 356 Speedster recreation that is ready to enjoy, this is a very attractive car.
