The above recommissioning work was necessary because the car had been unused.
When I bought it the bodywork was in excellent rust-free condition (see wheel arch photos). To keep it in this condition, I Waxoyled much of the underside, but it hasn’t been driven in rain by me. It is therefore completely rust free.
I have had the suspension replaced with new cones and also electronic ignition was fitted by Minisport in Padiham.
The automatic gearbox works well with the high-quality oil that I have used.
The last MOT was at 5, 831 miles in June 2022. Since then it has been registered as a Historic Vehicle (free road tax and MOT exempt)
The oil and coolant were last replaced at 7, 000 miles in June 2024
The current mileage is 7, 800 - it may increase slightly because I enjoy driving it in the summer. This is an absolutely unique opportunity to buy a Mini in the condition you would expect it to have been in had it been just 6 months old. Back in the 1980s I had several new minis, 2 of which were automatic and I can honestly say that driving this car is an absolute pleasure. Furthermore, being automatic, the car will appeal to many younger enthusiasts who have passed their driving tests in electric cars and who therefore cannot drive manual classic cars.
