First model 1973 Kawasaki Z2
Has done 5000km (3100miles) since a full restoration. Engine was completely overhauled by Z1 and CBX engine guru Mark Hutton with new pistons, rings, cam chain and idlers, gearbox bearings valve guides etc etc. No expense spared
Bad points: This is not a perfect restoration as some pattern parts were used. Some of the zinc has dulled and a few minor specks of corrosion can be seen. Oh, and the front brake squeals! The exhaust system despite being perfectly usable has some flaky chrome and welding. It would definitely benefit from a new system and use the current set for a daily rider bike.
Good points: Engine has just had a full service and carburetor set-up. The bike runs superbly. The bike has all the correct Z2 parts such as fixed footpegs, pillion strap on seat, 42 tooth rear sprocket, Z2 decals and panel badges, Z2 speedometer (bought new from KHI), speed warning indicator, amber reflectors on rear shocks and correct 26mm carbs. There is also a lot of genuine KHI NOS parts fitted.
This bike has only had 2 owners. The original owner was a USA serviceman who bought it new while on duty in the Pacific. He the returned home to California with it. I still have the original California Pink Slip registration doc for it which is quite rare as the DVLA normally keep and destroy these. I bought the bike in 1993 and have owned it since then.
Engine and Frame numbers are original factory matched. Z2F031XX and Z2E 031XX
