Description

Reluctant sale of my lovely R100GS Paris Dakar, reluctant because i'm struggling to get on and off because of worsening arthritis in my hips. Once aboard it's fab,
The bike was imported from Germany in 2010 by BAMW (Gary Burton) for it's first UK owner, I'm the second owner in the UK, there were two previously in Germany. Gary overhauled the bike before delivery and it's mileage at that point was 29206 kM's (18253 miles), I had the speedo converted to MPH by Peter Bond in april 2025 who calculated the correct mileage at that time of 35158 miles. All mileage is confirmed by the full MOT history contained in the very extensive file which also has all the German Paperwork from new.
The bike is in superb condition, not concourse, but very, very good. The pictures tell their own story, the bike has not been restored, it’s in original paint on the tank, frame rear mudguard, lower front guard, side panels etc, just very carefully cleaned.
I have continued the maintenance schedule with records and receipts from Motobins and others. New Continental TKC 70 tyres were fitted in January this year and have proved to suit the bike very well. The bike is fitted with the original heated grips which work on both settings, in fact everything works just as it should.
During my ownership I managed to source the last first silencer from BMW through my local BMW dealer and fitted that, I have also removed the secondary air system, fitting a new air box and stainless cylinder head plugs, this has improved the running greatly, once warm she will run down to walking pace and pull away cleanly.
I have also fitted a genuine BMW high front guard, uprated diode board, left hand dip headlight, LED driving lights operated from the left hand dash board switch, Kand N air filter, charging lead, Siebenrock leather rear tool box, an expensive, but very accurate copy of the BMW original, SW-Motec footrests, much wider and with the additional rubber inserts, very comfy and garmin sat nav, the sat nav will remain with the bike if the asking price is met, otherwise it will be removed. The sale will include the low guard and all parts removed or replaced during my ownership including the keihan stainless steel Y piece, also included are the panniers and the very rare leather rear tool box. A full set of keys are with the bike, ignition key also works the tank locker, seat lock and both panniers.
Within the last month I have replaced all the oils and fluids together with the oil filter, I have also fitted new plugs, it did'nt need them, but I had them in stock. She starts on the button, and with the kick starter (if you want the excercise!!) idles cleanly and pulls strongly in all gears.
The bike has both German and UK handbooks, a thorough and complete history and a current MOT which has eleven months to go at the time of writing this. Imported from Germany by BAMW on behalf of the first UK owner in 2010 and bought by me from him in April 2024. I had wanted just this bike when they were new, at the time of this bikes launch I was riding my first Daytona Orange R90S, and landed on this in April 2024, I have owned and restored many BM flat twins in the past, both air cooled and oil cooled but this is one of the nicest yet, I have not been disappointed in the ride, the second (and last) German owner had the bike fitted with wilbers front fork springs and a white power rear shock, together they give the bike great poise and handling. The looks and presence always draw attention when the bike is parked up.
She's no rocket ship but more than holds her own in modern traffic, people moan about the front brake, but I fitted new pads when I bought her, she already had a braided hose so I carefully bled the caliper replacing the brake fluid then and again recently and once the pads bedded in the brake is very good, you need a full grip for a very quick stop but two fingers to scrub speed for a bend.
She's oil tight, the pressure switch was weeping so I replaced that and, honestly I will miss riding this one, on A and B roads she is fantastic, well balanced, great on fuel, the huge tank means fewer stops, comfy seat and big bars mean great control, Okay on motorways if you need to, the previous owner regularly toured into Europe on her. She has also been fitted with lowered, wider footrests which are great.
Good looking in red and white with the gravel graphics and when loaded up with the panniers ect you really do feel like you could cross continents, I wanted to do the Columbers rally but she's just too young!. If your looking for an iconic GS Paris Dakar then look no further.
