Description
Very rare survivor of the first 2 months of production with original red front indicators and early rear lights. Last owner 20 years. Has full service history, book pack and has clearly been garaged most of its life. Very clean exterior and interior, has been on a ramp to check for structural rust; totally sound under body and very limited surface corrosion; recently had waxoyl / underseal applied. Electric windows, both remotes, original radio, central locking etc all work. Recent new General Grabber tyres (noisy but good for off road) , alternator, drop links, fuel filer and full service. Brake lines replaced; no warning lights. Starts easily first time; very reliable and relatively quiet Perkins L Series engine. Drives, handles and brakes surprisingly well. Clutch action good, gearbox quiet, 4WD drive works, prop shaft in place. Headlining replaced as it was too dirty to clean. May 2027 MOT. The LCD displays work but have degraded, sunroof does not work. Early L314 Freelanders are increasingly scarce; this is one from the very first few months of production (registered early March 1998) and has not been modified so is still highly original. There are only 37 1998 Freelanders of this spec still on the road. They are becoming very collectable in this condition and specification (XEi). The inside and outside are exceptionally clean, but there is room for further minor improvement to bring it up to perfect condition, but is clearly in good, time warp condition and is already a recognised Land Rover Classic. Has the rare and collectable red indicators and rear lights and a really good interior with little seat wear. Exterior plastics are unfaded and unscratched. No accident damage or scrapes etc. Comes with full book pack, 2 keys and working remotes, FSH and May 2027 MOT with no advisories. Can be used and enjoyed as an every day classic. Selling to fund other projects.
