Description
This is an early 1955 Beetle (Build date Feb) with ribbed doors, heart tail lights, full batwing, single tip muffler etc. It’s a matching numbers, really solid, original and un messed with car.
It took me a long time to find an early Beetle as nice as this.
I bought it in 2018 from Owen Warlow / VW Garden and it belonged to his partner. They imported it years previously after sitting in a barn in Sweden since the 70s but never got it registered.
I recommissioned it keeping as many of the original parts as possible and only replacing what was necessary. Anything I fitted was NOS or top quality replacement parts.
The car is pretty much all original paint and has only ever had a couple of small bits of welding. The heater channels and floors are original and look spotless.
The engine has all the correct parts for a 1955, has no end float and runs lovely. I have recently fitted a NOS VW single tip muffler.
The interior is the original Bedford cord with date tags under the seat springs and is in nice condition with no rips or tears etc.
I fitted a set of top quality running boards and correct mats from Norbert Burns (kaefervwrostfrei. de) and a set of crossplys when I first bought and recommissioned the car.
All the mechanical parts have been gone through. It has had a recent LUK clutch kit, full service including gearbox oil change, axle gaiters, all gearbox mounts, new steering coupling, adjusted steering box, all the original suspension components and tie rods greased and ethanol resistant fuel hose throughout.
Hard to find early cars as original, solid and un messed with as this. I viewed loads of others before buying this one.
Drop me a message if you have any questions or would like photos of any specific areas.
Car in Staffordshire, UK.
Thanks
