1959 Volkswagen Beetle – Semaphore Model – Matching Numbers – Restored & Patina Preserved
A fantastic opportunity to own an original matching-numbers 1959 Volkswagen Beetle, retaining its period charm, character and original-style patina while benefiting from a comprehensive structural, mechanical and suspension restoration.
This is a genuine matching-numbers, semaphore-equipped Beetle that has undergone an extensive body-off restoration, carried out by HR Autoworks, with great emphasis placed on retaining the authentic look and feel of this iconic early Volkswagen.
Restoration & Mechanical Work
The restoration has included:
Full body and pan restoration
All new components throughout the chassis
Rebuilt matching-numbers engine
Complete brake overhaul with new components
All necessary body repairs professionally carried out
Patina carefully blended into the repaired areas to match the existing original patina
New window rubbers
New headliner
New carpet
Numerous other new components throughout the car
Suspension & Running Gear
The car has also been upgraded with a complete Eva Resto suspension setup, including:
8-inch narrow, shockless beam
2. 5-inch adjustable rear spring plates
Gearbox raise
Fuchs-style wheels – 4. 5-inch fronts and 6-inch rears
The suspension and wheel setup gives the Beetle a purposeful, classic VW stance while complementing the car's original character and patina.
Patina & Appearance
Rather than restoring the car to an over-polished, concours-style finish, considerable care has been taken to preserve and blend the existing patina.
All repaired areas have been sympathetically blended into the original finish, creating a wonderfully authentic appearance that retains the character of an old Volkswagen rather than looking like a freshly restored reproduction.
The result is a car that looks like a genuine survivor but benefits from a substantial amount of restoration work underneath.
All of the restoration work has been carried out by HR Autoworks, who are well known within the VW scene. Their work and restoration projects can be seen on YouTube and Facebook, allowing prospective buyers to see the quality and attention to detail that has gone into this car.
Finding an original matching-numbers 1959 Beetle with semaphore indicators and its characterful original patina is becoming increasingly difficult. This car offers that desirable originality combined with a significant amount of sympathetic restoration work.
It has been restored with the aim of making it usable, reliable and mechanically sound, while retaining the character and personality that makes an early Beetle so special. Original matching numbers. Semaphore indicators. Genuine patina. Full restoration. Upgraded suspension. Fuchs-style wheels.
A very cool, honest and highly usable early VW that looks the part from every angle — original character on the outside, comprehensively restored underneath, and finished with a great classic VW stance.
The car was imported from Sweden back FBI VW.
Then purchased by myself and fully restored to the condition you see today by HR Autoworks
I still hold a few items from when the car was in Sweden which will be included in the purchase.
