Description

- Model & rarity: Mercedes-Benz 300 SL (R129) with a rare, original 5-speed manual gearbox and a deep, satisfying sound thanks to a high-quality MAE rear silencer.

- History & ownership: German first delivery from carefully maintained prior ownership (2nd owner), used continuously since 2001 purely as a seasonal/ garage car.

- Mileage: Only 80, 002 km shown on the odometer, credibly supported by documents (TÜV reports, invoices).

- Vehicle status: The car is stored safely in a dry garage and is already de-registered for sale (red plates or short-term registration plates would need to be provided/ arranged).

- Condition & MOT: Roadworthy with a fresh service and a new MOT valid until 03/ 2028 (starter motor and battery replaced in 2026).

- Paint & roof: Rare Almandine Red Metallic paint, black leather interior, new Sonnenland soft top (2014), and a body-colour hardtop.

For sale is a 1993 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL. It’s a well-kept garage and seasonal vehicle from second hand. The mileage for the period since 2001 is plausibly supported by the available documentation (such as TÜV reports and invoices). The odometer reads 80, 002 km.
The combination of the 3. 0-litre six-cylinder engine producing 190 bhp and the manual 5-speed gearbox delivers a classic driving feel and drives superbly.
The original body-colour hardtop is included in the sale.
The car is in good technical condition and is fully roadworthy. To the best of the seller’s knowledge, the engine, gearbox and the rest of the technology are fully functional; no faults occurred during their own use.
Just recently, in March 2026, the SL received a fresh service including an oil change. The MOT was also renewed without any problems until March 2028. In addition, a new starter motor and a new battery were fitted in 2026.
Visually, the SL is finished in the rare Almandine Red Metallic, paired with a black leather interior. No rust damage is known.
A paint-layer measurement revealed values between 507 and 627 micrometres, suggesting an even, professionally carried out full respray by the previous owner—though no further details are known.
The black Sonnenland fabric soft top was completely renewed in 2014 following storm damage. The tyres are from 2020, are absolutely not perished, and still have around 6 mm tread at the front and 8 mm at the rear.
Of course, after more than 30 years there are also obvious signs of use, which are clearly stated here. Externally, there is a small scratch on the front right on the bumper and a small parking dent on the driver’s door, however without any paint damage. Inside, the locking mechanism of the centre armrest is defective and the black walnut-trim decor on the left of the driver’s door has come away slightly in places. There is also a black leftover piece of a phone mount in the front passenger footwell, visible in the photos. Otherwise, the interior equipment includes a seat heater, electric window regulators and the electric seat adjustment.
A MAE rear silencer provides a rich sound.

Unfortunately, a complete original service book (full service history booklet) is no longer available. However, the history is well documented with German vehicle papers, numerous old TÜV reports and a damage assessment (regarding the storm damage mentioned above, which was purely cosmetic to the roof). Overall, it’s a lovely, road-ready R129 that you can just get in and drive away.

The sale is made excluding any liability for material defects. This exclusion does not apply to claims for damages arising from gross negligence or intentional breach of the seller’s duties, nor for any injury to life, limb or health. 2 owners.
The vehicle has been in the family’s ownership since 2001. The history is well documented. Overview available on request.

The SL was taken over by the son of the previous owner for health reasons in August 2023 and has been officially de-registered since that handover. During this time the car has been kept absolutely protected, dry and unused in a garage—any standing damage has been consistently ruled out through regular care and the fresh service in March 2026. As the vehicle remains de-registered for the upcoming sale, the stated mileage will not change.

New roof after storm damage in 2014.

Including the sought-after Almandine Red Metallic hardtop—the roadster is transformed in no time into a proper, weatherproof coupé and ensures maximum value retention.

Deep sound thanks to a high-quality MAE rear silencer
