Description

Superb mimosa yellow TR6 with overdrive on 3rd/ 4th, in exceptional condition inside and out. No rust or known mechanical issues. An original UK car (commission CR 6542 O), the TR6 received a full body-off and engine-out restoration by a professional classic car restoration company in mid-2014 at a cost of £10, 600. The body had no significant rust when it was restored, but the original paint had faded and picked up the inevitable wear and tear marks in the engine bay over the years. At this time the car also received additional significant, expensive upgrades. These included: uprated drive shafts and Quaife rear hubs, high spec 4 pot brake calipers and green stuff pads, rear telescopic dampers conversion, triple Weber 40 carbs conversion, new mohair black hood, powder coated wheels, detailed engine bay, period stereo, chrome bumpers, wooden steering wheel etc. This is all documented in the history file, with a cd rom with 150+ photographs of the restoration (examples shown at end of photo gallery) and many supporting invoices going back to earlier years as well. Mileage in 2014 was c. 65, 500, believed genuine.

The car was part-exchanged and sold to me in 2015 by Lawton Brook in Knaresborough, a dealer specializing in prestige cars and classics; you can see from their website today the quality of vehicles they retail. Since buying the car I have used it only sparingly as my ‘special car’ in the summer months, and have never driven it in the rain. The current mileage reading is 66, 125. It has always been well-maintained and kept properly and on trickle charge in my attached garage. In May 2024 I had the carbs professionally stripped, with attention to the suction valves and surge pumps, the fuel lines cleaned and a new fuel pump fitted, and the carbs tuned at a cost of £1366.

As you would think, the car is a great example of one of the last ‘true’ British sports cars. It looks, drives and sounds superb! The TR6 was my ‘dream car’ I promised myself as a young man, but changing circumstances mean that the time has come to sell; I’d be pleased if it went to a fellow enthusiast who would look after it as previous owners and I have. I have priced the car to reflect the recent downturn in the market. Please, serious enquiries only and no canvassers or traders. I am located near Junction 4 of the M2 in Gillingham in Kent.
