Description
VW Karmann Convertible Beetle RHD
This one has a story! The car was imported in the 1990s by a guy who imported a lot of cabrios. He converted it to RHD, Had it painted and put it on a UK RHD chassis and then didn’t finish it.. The car stood from 1990s until 2020.
I bought it out of storage in central London and have had it on the road on and off since then. It doesnt get a huge amount of use.
I keep considering an earlier Cabrio and so should sell this one first.
It all looks solid. It has had welding in the past (Before my ownership) and also a little welding this year to keep on top of the tin worm
MOT exempt and Free Road Tax (Historic vehicle). London ULEZ exempt.
Private numberplate included in the price if you like? It was on a L reg.
It has some slightly scabby bits but presents well and shines up beautifully.
There are some poor bits of paint and a some bits showing there age as its a used vehicle which lives outside in the summer not a pampered pet!
It always gets compliments where ever we go.
USA style Beige high Back interior
1600cc Twinport
Disc Brakes. - front
Lowered front springs (2")
Good engine and gearbox.
Drives well... Brakes are good.
4 New tyres for the summer last year 155R15 front and 185/ 65R15 rears.
It last had oil change (15w40) and rocker gaps checked on 12th May 2025 and hasnt done many miles since.
The worst part of the car in my opinion is the roof - Its got a couple of patches and is generally a bit tatty (see pics).
Car is in Bedfordshire.
Viewing essential.
Happy for you to jack it up, look under it .. bring a specialist .. what ever you need to make sure its the one for you.
I've nothing to hide.. its old and not perfect, its priced cheap for a Karmann.
Talk to me, get permission from the other half to buy before wasting my time.. Make sure you have the Cash available.. Don't just send offers or silly messages. It is essential that you come and see it in person due to its age and condition.
Come take a look. Thank you.
Some of these photos were taken last year, some this year... I will update pics but I will never get round to listing this unless I do it now! First photo was taken at the Ace Cafe North London July 2026
Please message me in the First instance for a chat - you are far more likely to catch me with a message and we can arrange a call to arrange viewings etc.
