The SP4 was no ordinary road motorbike, but a road-legal racing machine that was directly influenced by the racing department. Its key features include:
• The Desmoquattro engine:
A liquid-cooled 90° V-twin engine with a displacement of 888 cm³, four desmodromically controlled valves per cylinder and electronic Weber-Marelli fuel injection. In the SP4, it produced between 111 and 118 PS (significantly more than the later standard Strada version).
• High-quality racing chassis:
It was fitted as standard with fully adjustable Öhlins FG 9050 upside-down forks and an Öhlins DU 8070 rear monoshock (not comparable to standard Öhlins products).
• Lightweight construction & premium components:
To save weight (dry weight approx. 188 kg), it featured a lightweight aluminium subframe, carbon-fibre mudguards and exclusive Termignoni exhaust tips.
• Appearance:
The SP4 was instantly recognisable by its striking white trellis frame and red paintwork with a white ‘Monoposto’ hump (single seat).

In good to very good condition, it has been registered continuously and the Bologna Twin was only ridden on country roads in fine weather, purely for enjoyment. The tyres have 80 per cent tread depth.
