A real showstopper, sure to gather a crowd wherever you park it. Be prepared to answer lots of questions!I imported this back in 2017 and she was subjected to a full mechanical rebuild. A new crate engine from the US based on a date and CC correct block and heads. Full gearbox re build with a new performance clutch and a new shifter unit. A complete rebuild of the UJ's and prop. A strip and rebuild of the diff' . New shocks front and rear with new OEM heavy duty rear springs. A new competition exhaust. The steering system and linkages all stripped and rebuilt, means she corners as good as factory. All parts OEM and sourced from the US. New bits, I was paranoid about leaking fuel and carb problems so she has a new Edelbrock 600, new fuel pump, water pump and the radiator upgraded to a triple core (still keeping the same top and bottom so it looks stock) all the fuel pipes and tank sender were replaced and the fuel tank taken out and blasted clean inside. It's always nice for a powerful car to be able to stop and the original drums left braking an adventure best planned well in advance, so these were swapped out for front discs. Still have the original drums that could (although why would you ) be put back. The original interior was black vinyl and it was akin to sitting in a frying pan if you ever left her open topped in the sun. This was all replaced with a scarlet leather with white piping, which I think looks superb. Despite all the above, she is not a trailer queen! We have driven her from London to Holyhead to catch the ferry to Dublin where she won best car in the Gordon Bennet annual classic car rally. She has been over to Europe and the UK and has always behaved impeccably. fuel consumption on a run is actually a fairly decent 22-25mpg. However, show off and stamp on the loud pedal and it will drop precipitously to low single figures. I have always run her on 99 Ron as this is the coolest burning fuel. Bad bits, she has a 68 year old GRP body, and there are always small paint blisters that pop up when you take her out of storage every year. If you are happy to look after them yourself they are not difficult to address. I've become an expert! Plus side is you'll never experience any rust. There are also a couple of very small cracks, again, never bothered me, but easy to repair if you wanted. other than that, the paint looks mint. The chrome is original and could do with a refurb, its not bad, just not perfect. Some of the trims have a few minor dings and dents, but still sparkle in the sun. She needs a new soft top, the one she has is for emergencies only. I never take her out in the rain so have never needed to replace it, plus the roofs on C1's have more leaks then Cardiff on St Davids day. I did buy a hard top to refurb, but have never gotten round to it. This could be included in any deal, it needs a fair bit of work, but all the important bits are there. I have done around 5-6000 miles since I bought her and enjoyed every one, not sure if I really want to sell her, but have a few projects I'd like to start and the wife won't let me dip into the retirement fund. As already mentioned, all of the important (and costly) bits have been done, she has a few minor cosmetic faults, but then at 68 years old, don't we all. Been a much loved and admired car, but time to move on to something new. You will be the most popular man at any car show, car park or even motorway service station. If I had a £1 for every time I'm asked if someone can photograph her I'd be rich (well a bit less poor anyway). She drives nice for an old car, and with the discs, she stops as well, you can drive for 2-3-4 hours comfortably and not feel like you do in most old cars. you have to remember you have no traction control, no ABS and at night bring a torch! just joking, but we are so used to the new LED lamps that these seem almost non existent.
