For sale is my 2003 Volkswagen Golf Mk4 R32, finished in Reflex Silver with a black leather interior, the desirable six-speed manual gearbox and 4Motion four-wheel drive. It has covered just 98, 000 miles, which is increasingly rare for a Mk4 R32, as most examples now have considerably more than 100, 000 miles.
The car has been very well cared for and comes with an extensive service-history folder containing receipts and previous MOT certificates going back several years. Before advertising it, I wanted to make sure it was properly prepared and driving exactly as it should, so it has recently had new ball joints, front brake pads, front anti-roll-bar links, brand-new front coilovers and further suspension work. New rear shocks and springs will also be supplied with the car.
Mechanically, it is a very strong and well-sorted example. The 3. 2-litre V6 runs smoothly with no timing-chain rattle whatsoever, and there are visible signs that the timing chains have previously been replaced, although I have been unable to locate the supporting invoice. The six-speed manual gearbox operates as it should, the 4Motion system provides excellent grip, and the Milltek exhaust gives the car the unmistakable V6 sound without spoiling its character.
The black leather interior is clean and in good overall condition, with heated front seats, electric windows, electrically adjustable mirrors, remote central locking, original R32 mats and the original Volkswagen satellite-navigation stereo still fitted. Everything operates as it should. The roof lining has started to drop slightly, which is a very common issue on Mk4 Golfs and is a relatively straightforward repair.
The exterior presents well for a car of this age, although there are some light age-related marks around the bodywork, all of which have been shown honestly in the photographs. The underside is in good condition and has also been photographed, with no known welding required.
This is a genuine, usable and increasingly collectible Mk4 R32 with under 100, 000 miles, strong history and a significant amount of recent maintenance already completed. It has been advertised at a competitive price of £12, 450 to reflect the minor cosmetic imperfections and achieve a sensible sale, but 2 will not entertain silly offers or tyre kickers.
