Introduced to celebrate 25 years of the Golf GTI, the Anniversary stood apart from the standard Mk4 with its unique body kit, BBS alloy wheels, red brake calipers and six-speed manual gearbox.
This Reflex Silver Metallic example was supplied new by Volkswagen Poole on 1 November 2002 and remained with its first owner for the following 23 years. It has had just two owners from new and covered 42, 552 miles. One of only 825 petrol-powered 1. 8T Anniversary models supplied to the UK, this example carries plaque number 1323 from the combined 1, 792-car production run.
Having spent its first 23 years on the Isle of Wight, the car appears to have benefited from the island’s comparatively mild climate. The underside is extraordinarily clean – one of the best we have seen on any car at Opposite Stock – while the body remains in its original paint and presents immaculately throughout.
Inside, the Recaro seats have been professionally retrimmed in black leather with red stitching and embroidered GTI Recaro logos. The work presents superbly, with zero bolster wear or sagging. Matching floor mats with red piping, unique door-sill trims and Tornado Red Anniversary badging complete the interior.
The car has been lightly and tastefully modified, with the work centred on improving the performance and chassis without compromising its character.
The original turbocharger has been replaced by a JBS K03 hybrid turbo and manifold, alongside uprated injectors, a front-mounted intercooler, Carbonio induction kit, Forge dump valve and Milltek exhaust system with a high-flow catalytic converter and downpipes. A REVO remap brings the resulting output to a dyno-proven 253bhp, with the supporting printout retained in the history file.
The chassis has also been upgraded with KW Variant 3 coilover suspension, H&R wheel spacers and uprated brake discs and pads. A new Sachs performance clutch kit was fitted by Volkswagen Morpeth in January 2026, while the original BBS alloys wear a matching set of Continental SportContact 7 UHP tyres.
Importantly, most of the original parts removed during the modifications remain with the car and are included in the sale. The Volkswagen cherished registration currently fitted is also included.
