The car that you are looking at MG TD GCT 981 is a unique car in that it belonged to the same owner from purchase in 1952 through to 2025 a total of 73 years. In the year 2000, the car was taken to the renowned MG restorer Mr Alistair Naylor the first restoration company to gain approval from the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust.
Alistair Naylor and his highly qualified team carefully restored this car GCT 981 over the next five years. In 2005, GCT 981 was returned to the owner after receiving a full nut and bolt restoration totalling around 1000 hours of labour and approximately £60, 000. All detailed invoices and receipts available.
A total restoration of the quality this car received at today’s present prices would make this car economically unviable. Check labour costs alone at premium restoration company's.
The car is in the same condition now as when it was returned to the owner, it hasn’t been used, the car has only done test runs to check everything for safety.
The odometer still reads original mileage, not being altered after a complete Engine rebuild to keep originality.
This car really is a one off and probably is the only MG TD with this history available for sale today.
Although the car is 74 years old, due to the highly detailed restoration it is basically a new car.
Everything has been attended to and it is a testament to the ability and skill of Alistair and his team that the car looks as fresh today as when it left the workshop.
The car has been stored in a dry environment under covers, the paintwork and chrome are bright with no fading, the hood, tonneau and hood cover are as new as can be seen in the pictures.
Over the last 6 months the only requirements for the car to be used were the Tyres and Inner Tubes have been replaced due to age and all fluids changed ie engine oil + filter, gearbox, differential, all grease points, coolant, fan belt and brakes checked.
GCT 981 has still not been used due to personal medical reasons is yet to be driven.
