1982 Honda Xr500, this is the single carb version with reed valve. It has an upgraded front disc brake and a aluminium rear swing arm from a later xr, which I find make it a more usable bike. But if you wish to keep it an all original 82 model I do have the original parts. It is tax and MOT exempt.
These engines can suffer from worn cam shafts if they are run low on oil or if the oil passage is blocked, I have been through the top end on this engine and this engine is in excellent condition.
The bike is mechanically sound, has all the original parts that will come with it, front wheel/ drum brake, front forks, swing arm, fuel tank, front light fairing etc.
I have fitted indicators that run on the original stator connected to a regulator and a capacitor, all LED. The capacitor is just tucked under the seat and the regulator would fit there too if you wanted it out the way. It’s handy not having to charge a battery if the bikes not used for a while, just kick it over and your off.
All so have 2 spare rear sprockets, 1 for lower gearing and 1 for higher, that will be included too.
Only thing not included with the bike is the Oxford saddle bag.
