Description
A truly beautiful 1997 Bentley Brooklands, presented in exceptional condition throughout and having covered fewer than 42, 000 miles.
Recently serviced by Wraith Motors, a London-based Bentley specialist, the car comes with a fresh MOT valid until 28 July 2027.
The car was supplied new by H. R. Owen of London and was lovingly owned and maintained by a family of doctors until July 2024. She has clearly been cherished throughout her life, and her condition reflects the care she has received.
As a 1997 model-year example, this Brooklands is powered by Bentley's legendary 6. 75-litre V8, producing 300bhp through a low-pressure turbocharger (LPT). Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. Despite her considerable performance and imposing size, fuel consumption is better than you might expect, returning around 18 mpg on longer journeys.
Finished in Black Sapphire Metallic, the paintwork has a beautiful deep midnight-blue hue. Inside, the car is trimmed in Parchment Hide piped in Royal Blue, with blue carpeting throughout, a wonderfully elegant and understated combination.
The interior remains beautifully original and she retains her Alpine period tape deck, CD changer and remote control, together with a period carphone mounted in the centre armrest.
Factory-cost options include sports-style front seats and black rear-quarter badging, adding a subtle sporting character to the car's otherwise unmistakable Bentley elegance.
The car is accompanied by an excellent history file, including its original handbook, stamped service book, detailed invoices supporting the vast majority of servicing and additional maintenance, and both original and spare keys.
My wife nicknamed her Penelope, and she really is a joy to drive.
She effortlessly floats along the road, you travel in pure luxury. You drive knowing that the people who built her were true craftsmen and women, people with immense skill, pride and an obsession with getting every detail just right.
Inside, there’s a sense of perfection. No plastic, just leather, wood and metal, beautifully crafted and finished, all feeling as special today as the moment Penelope first rolled out of the Bentley factory gates.
A true luxury car, the Bentley Brooklands excels as a long-distance companion. But beneath that effortless refinement lies something rather more potent: a monstrous engine with remarkable power, ready to deliver some spirited performance whenever the opportunity arises.
Penelope may be elegant, but she certainly knows how to have fun.
