1968 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Convertible – UK RHD
For sale is my UK right-hand-drive 1968 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Convertible.
I acquired the car in January 2022 with absolutely no intention of selling it. However, something else has recently come up for sale that I would like to purchase, so I’ve made the difficult decision to offer the Ghia for sale.
I had the car MOT’d in 2024, with all necessary work completed at the time. Minor works and one area of welding were carried out by DC’s Hotrods & Customs. I have covered only around 200 miles since.
The car is fitted with:

I am the fourth owner. The car was restored by the second owner, Roy Dunlop, in the late 1990s, including work by Custom Coach Trimming.
There are some redundant holes and switches remaining from previous modifications, including when the car was running a larger engine. For example, the indicators make a distinctive beeping noise when operating.
The car was originally a Hampshire/ Dorset car, as indicated by its original registration history. It now runs the private registration KGA 142, with KGA representing Karmann Ghia and 142 being the Volkswagen designation for a right-hand-drive Convertible.
There is also a garage/ company reference on the sill which is presumed to relate to the original selling garage.
The car is by no means a concours example and is scruffy in places, but this is reflected in the price.
The main items to note are:
• The decklid requires repair. The necessary inner and outer replacement panels are included with the car.
• The hood canvas is ripped on both sides. It could be repaired or taped, but as the car has only ever been used in good weather and with the hood down, this has never particularly bothered me.
I’d much rather be upfront about the car’s condition than try to present it as something it isn’t. It is an honest, usable RHD Karmann Ghia convertible, which I have enjoyed.
