Here for sale is my BWM E39 540i Touring, equipped with the M Sport kit.
Obviously everyone's first question here will be about the rust. This is a fake effect that was applied over the top of the original paint by the previous owner. It is not real rust. I don't imagine it would be too difficult to remove however I decided to keep it as I rather like how it looks. It makes the car stand out and is unique, when was the last time you saw a car like this on the road? This car is always a head turner. (More photos to be added soon!)
Good points:
Most importantly, these cars are known to suffer with timing chain guides. I've had the chains and guides replaced less than 5000 miles ago. So that is not something that needs to be worried about
Lots of service history, I've got a binder full of paperwork to go with this car.
4 brand new tyres on that I had fitted last year
Brembo new brakes all round
Recent replacement Coolant Expansion tank (full coolant flush done at this time as well)
Recent service only around 1k ago
Various recent suspension replacement parts done
Everything works as it should on this car, including the parking sensors, auto leveling rear air suspension etc (except the AC which I suspect needs a re-gas)
Current MOT until June 2027 and had 0 advisories at the last test. This car may look like it needs a lot of work but it is solid and has never once let me down
M sport body kit from Factory, desirable option which I think vastly improves the look of the car
AC schnitzer wing mirrors
Bad points (Trying to be as honest as I can)
Obviously the paintwork may not be to everyones taste so I've tried to factor that in to the listing
AC does not work - may need a re-gas
One of the jacking points is starting to look a bit crusty however it didn't come up on the MOT recently so should be fine for now.
Viscus fan shroud is cracked from a previous repair but this is just cosmetic and doesn't effect the running of the car or the fan
Overall this is a very solid car, definitely a head turner and in my opinion is from the greatest generation of BMW. It feels very solid and dependable to drive, the V8 sounds amazing and is great fun to drive. I will be very sad to see it go but I don't use it as much as I should as I've got too many cars and it should go to someone to enjoy it.
£6750 but I am open to offers. I would suggest viewing before buying. Car located in South Birmingham.
