Description
1971 Morris minor Royal Mail LCV
This little van had a complete nut and bolt restoration between 2018 & completed in 2022 and afterwards sold to a gentleman who very soon after fell poorly and therefore the van sat on his driveway for 4 years without moving.
Sadly this means that the paintwork has suffered. (Please see pictures)
However the underside, engine bay, interior and inside the rear is pretty much in perfect condition.
All the rubbers are in perfect order so the van stays bone dry inside and all the lights & electrics work perfectly.
It was the local post masters van on the Isle of Wight from April 1971 to February 1978 and afterwards it was sold at auction on the mainland.
Thankfully a local enthusiast on the Isle of Wight purchased the van and brought it back to the island and started the restoration.
The van starts & runs fine and the gearbox and clutch feels great.
There isn’t any rot or corrosion whatsoever on the van.
The gutters are all in good condition inside and out.
I have all the paperwork for the van confirming its authenticity from the post office along with lots of pictures from its restoration. Over 230 images.
Please note the paintwork isn’t great but to be honest it suits it in a strange way.
The chrome is immaculate along with the seats, carpets, inside the rear and underneath.
Tyres are all in great shape.
It has 3 point seat belts fitted.
Iv treated it to a brand new battery, fuel pump, wing mirrors, door cards, head light bezels, gave it a full service and check over.
Iv been driving it every day for the last few weeks and it’s been absolutely spot on. It has some of the original post office features such as the interior light, rear door bar including all the mechanism inside the van to open it.
It also has its exterior door stays and you can also see from inside the rear where the advertisement sign brackets once were, Therefore reinstalling them would be a pretty easy job if you wished to hang boards on the sides.
The van is located on the Isle of Wight but don’t let that put you off! It’s a 15 minute crossing from Southampton or Portsmouth and I’d be more than happy to collect you this side and show you the van.
Happy to have a deal on the van but I expect a fuss free sale.
Happy to chat further so feel free to give me a call.
Thank you for looking.
