The vehicle is located in Hungary. Due to my health condition, I am unfortunately unable to complete the restoration project that was started 30 years ago.
For sale is this 1972 Opel GT, an ideal restoration project. The car has been disassembled, but it is in a very solid starting condition for a rebuild.
Bodywork & Condition:
- Very solid bodywork condition, no rust-through / perforations anywhere.
- The floor pans, sills, and structural parts are intact and solid.
- Excellent basis for a manageable restoration.
Officially Registered Period Tuning (Documents Present):
- Original German registration document (Deutscher Fahrzeugbrief) included.
- Officially registered period-correct tuning from the 1970s/ 80s: front spoiler, rear spoiler, side sills, ANSA sports exhaust, and ATS alloy wheels (eligible for classic H-registration).
Parts & Overall Condition:
- The vehicle is complete: All trim parts, glass, gauges, seals, and small items are present and boxed up.
- The engine turns freely (it is not seized).
- The seats are in excellent condition (preserved in near-new state).
- Dashboard and instruments are well preserved.

This Opel GT comes with a truly unique story: 30 years ago, a German gentleman bought this disassembled car as a wedding gift for his wife, with the dream of restoring it together. They started the restoration, but the project was eventually paused, and the car remained stored in a dry garage for 25 years. Following their divorce 5 years ago, I purchased the car directly from him.
My goal was also to fully restore this classic. Unfortunately, I suffered a stroke 4 years ago and am no longer physically able to complete the build. For the past 5 years, the car has been stored in a completely dry garage with me. I have now come to the realistic conclusion that due to my health, I won't be able to finish it.
I am now looking for a passionate enthusiast who will finally complete this honest, solid project and give this beautiful Opel GT the second life on the road that it truly deserves.
