Description

Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 MK I – 1961 – Fully Documented Restoration
For sale, a superb Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 MK I from 1961, left-hand drive, presented in an elegant Golden Beige Metallic finish with havana leather interior.
This car has undergone a complete and fully documented restoration, accompanied by an extensive photographic record documenting the various stages of work, from the bare bodyshell through to final reassembly.
The restoration covered the entire vehicle: bodywork, engine, gearbox, running gear, brakes, electrics and interior.
The 6-cylinder engine was completely stripped down and rebuilt. The cylinder head was reconditioned, the SU carburettors overhauled, the clutch replaced and the cooling system renewed.

I purchased it because the Austin-Healey 3000 represents for me exactly what a great classic car should be: timeless styling, straightforward and noble engineering, and genuine driving character.
What particularly captivated me about this example was the car's potential and the opportunity to restore it thoroughly, without cutting corners. It therefore benefited from substantial work on the bodywork, engine, gearbox, brakes, running gear, electrics and interior, with a photographic record that allows you to follow the various stages of the restoration. This is probably what sets it apart most today: you don't just see a beautifully finished car, you can also understand how it was rebuilt.
I'm particularly fond of its specification: the Golden Beige Metallic finish, the havana leather interior, the wire wheels and that very low, elegant silhouette typical of the great British sports cars of the 1960s. It's a car with considerable presence without being ostentatious.
But what I prefer most is the sensation it delivers. The long bonnet, the 6-cylinder engine, the driving position, the mechanical sound, the overdrive: everything is very different from a modern car. You're genuinely engaged in the driving experience.
It also holds particular sentimental value for me, as it has been used in rallies and motoring events. So this isn't a car that was restored merely to be displayed: it was built to be driven and enjoyed.
