For sale – with just 500 miles since 1260 hour Rawles Motorsport restoration, this superb example of the 1960 Austin Healey 3000 MkI. Finished in Healey Blue Metallic with Ivory duotone, chrome centre lock wire wheels and a hand-crafted full leather interior in Atlantic Blue with Ivory piping plus tailored Navy mohair wet-weather gear.
Highly original in its panelling and outward appearance, this 3000 is very true to its original form with subtle upgrades for power and refinement. This is a body-off nut and bolt restoration with the chassis rebuilt on our jig, all body panels restored or replaced as required, the car rewired with all new lines, new springs, dampers and much more.
The original engine has been rebuilt to fast road specification with larger 2” carburettors on our fast flow manifold, fast road camshaft, fully balanced internals, alternator conversion, large core radiator and additional electric fan. The result is a 60bhp increase in performance from factory, more even then a late MkIII. At the same time the original gearbox and overdrive was rebuilt to original specification. As the car has reached 500 miles it will now receive its first service with us and can be considered fully ‘broken in’.
Inside 21 COJ is very luxuriously appointed, the entire interior hand crafted in Atlantic Blue leather in place of vinyl, wool carpets in place of nylon and the seat foams adapted for a more relaxed, comfortable driving position. The hood is now navy mohair as was crafted uniquely for this car for improved fitment over the original everflex roofs. A full hand-crafted navy mohair tonneau is also supplied plus sidescreens and sidescreen stowage bag.
Further upgrades to this sensational Healey include 4-piston front brakes, upgraded constant clearance steering boox, wider wheels shod in sticky Avon ZZ 185 section tyres, full interior sound deadening, thermal insulation and LED lighting.
