1980 (V reg) r65 (650cc).
Classic twin shock airhead in remarkable original condition. Not many original bikes left, most were chopped up to make bobber/ cafe racers. Rare opportunity to get a genuine, unmolested R65.
Always garaged with a battery tender. Lots of service history and receipts. Professional major overhaul in 2025-see receipts for over twelve hundred pounds spent. Bike was gone through completely by a well respected engineer in North Yorks, no
expense spared. Runs and rides beautifully!
It has the ultra rare battery and volt meter pods which have been rewired. Optional twin front discs. Braided hoses. Fly screen (Puig)Oxford heated grips. New tyres and tubes.
Lots of old MOT certs to verify genuine 46K mileage. Current MOT until 07. 10. 26 but would pass easily. Historic vehicle registration. I MOT it every few years for piece of mind. 7 previous careful owners, I’ve had it 10 years.
Original tool kit and 1st aid kit! Original tyre pump. Reprinted owners manual and workshop manual included.
All fluids changed regularly including gear box oil and drive shaft. Splines greased plus new plugs, HT leads, carbs balanced etc - see invoices.
Original Krauser panniers with keys.’Sure foot’ & original side stand. Centre stand. Stainless Keihan exhausts in excellent condition. Head bearings in good condition, stears true with no frame or fork damage. All electrics work as they should, no issues. Electronic boyer ignition. Gearbox and clutch are strong and selects all 5 gears easily. Rides really well and is confidence inspiring for it’s reliability.
The bike presents well with minor blemishes & wear commensurate with an original 46 year old bike. Some marks on the tank and wheels but all original paint. Please see photos. Never been dropped and no dings or dents. Panniers are scruffy but work & fit well. Not the prettiest bike I've owned but certainly one of the most authentic and well engineered machines.
Bike rides really well, accelerates and stops as it should. Idles comfortably and always starts on the button. Carbs have been well maintained and regularly balanced to give reliable performance.
Classic old school riding on an increasingly rare bike. Always gets lots of attention when parked up because of its originality. I took it to the classic TT in 2023 and it held its own amongst more exotic machinery because it is so original, you just don’t see them like this anymore.
Fallen in love with a Bonneville so time to move the auld Beemer on to someone who will cherish it like I have.
