Description

EXTREMELY RARE CARRERA 3. 0 BEIGE SAHARA

The motor car offered for sale is rare not only for the limited number of examples produced, but even more so for its Beige Sahara colour and for being equipped with air conditioning, heat-reflective glass and a 5-speed gearbox. The vehicle is in perfect condition as confirmed by the Porsche Classic technical certificate, which attests to the condition of the car and confirms that following the technical inspection all examined aspects have met the required standards. The car is matching numbers for both engine and gearbox, as well as obviously the chassis. A further rarity lies in the fact that it was first delivered in Italy, where very few cars of this model were sold. A unique opportunity, therefore, for a knowledgeable and discerning collector who will be able to use his Carrera without any problems or additional expense.

Previous service and oil change carried out at Ruote da Sogno
The car will be displayed at the Bologna Classic Car and Motorcycle Show from 22 to 25 October

In 1975 the 911 Carrera was renewed. Equipped with wider rear wings, the sporting version of the 911 now featured the new 930 engine with a displacement of 2994 cc derived from the Carrera RS 3. 0 (the same as the Turbo, but without the turbo). The new model was designated the 911 Carrera 3. 0. Despite stricter pollution regulations and the trend towards reduced fuel consumption caused by the oil crisis, the new 930/ 02 engine equipped with K-Jetronic fuel injection was capable of delivering the same performance to the Carrera 3. 0 as the previous 2. 7 version, despite lower consumption and reduced emissions. This engine featured intake and exhaust valves with increased diameter and different, more aggressive valve timing, with the crankshaft inherited directly from the 3. 0 RS racing version and several improvements that gave the unit greater responsiveness and elasticity of use. The new 200 bhp engine had an aluminium block and Nikasil cylinders, but without the turbocharger the response was immediate and the high performance of the Carrera 3. 0 was more accessible even to less experienced drivers. Specialist Paul Frère defined the 911 Carrera 3. 0 as the best 911 ever made; he owned and frequently used an example for decades until it was stolen from him in the 1990s. He replaced it with a renewed 911 series 993.

The performance of the Carrera 3. 0 was comparable to the 2. 7 thanks also to the increase in torque available at lower revs; specifically, acceleration from 0–100 km/ h in 6. 1 seconds, 0–200 km/ h in 27 seconds and a top speed of 236 km/ h.
