Description
1981 Opel Manta 2. 0 GT-J Coupe- 5 Speed manual. Petrol
Owned by me since 2006, the restoration was competed around 2008 which included a colour change from Pine Green to Polar White. I have kept the car as standard looking as possible with some subtle upgrades.
Hella front fog lights and Irmscher rear spoiler along with a 1981 Pioneer Radio cassette with 4 speakers, factory style rear shelf ones and Pioneer ones in the doors.
It has a Webasto/ Hollandia tilt/ slide sunroof, an Irmscher steering wheel and Englemann door mirrors
When it was restored, it was fitted with the later 5 speed gearbox so, although not correct for that year, most people would take a 5 speed over the 4-speed box, and it has a weber carb conversion
Car is on lowering springs but the original factory springs come with it if you want a higher and more forgiving ride.
Car is very good condition so you can show it and enjoy it now and enjoy fettling and improving it further. Structurally it is rock solid as I went completely through it when restored
Tax and MOT exempt although it has just passed an MOT if you check the DVLA as I thought might be reassuring that has just been inspected.
The Manta GT/ J was a more sport orientated version released alongside the luxurious SR Berlinetta. Introduced at the start of 1981 not long before the big facelift, the GT/ J was designed to offer youthful buyers the aggressive, matte-black-trimmed sporty look at a lower price point that the SR. It is a very rare trim now.
