ROLLS ROYCE SILVER SPUR IV 1995 - Fourth iteration V8 6. 75L - one of the earliest 'New Silver Spur' cars built. Chassis number TCH57215 - marking it as a 1996 model production (TCH57001 onwards), first registered 11/ 95.
Just exceptional. Finished in the ever most popular blue and magnolia specification, with blue piping and the very expensive option of two colour top roll, the independent insurance agreed valuation valuer said “Where would you ever find another one like this?” and recently rated it as £36, 000. Rust free, rated concourse inside and out, always garaged and with a rigorous maintenance history by main dealers and respected marque independent specialists on file, this is an opportunity for a new custodian to acquire this outstanding, low mileage example of the what is considered to be the best of the SZ series generation by the cognoscenti.
Picnic tables, on board entertainment system, lambswool rugs, reclining rear seats, perfect woodwork throughout. Matching white wall tyres all round, which is always a good sign of caring ownership, and with plenty of tread.

This was a long wheelbase version of the successful Silver Spirit, which itself was built on the previous Silver Shadow chassis. Known as the SZ series cars, the Spirit/ Spur design reflected the more ‘boxy’ styling of the 80’s period. The aim was to keep production costs down by using the old chassis but make the car more appealing to the American market by fitting a bigger body. Around 9, 000 of the Spur iterations were built overall.
For the fourth series, which debuted in 1995 (a full fifteen years after the Spirit / Spur came to be), the Rolls got integrated body-coloured bumpers. These had been previewed on specials and limited run cars in the years prior, but obviously it was such a revolutionary change that Rolls-Royce took the time to ease into it. The Greek temple grill also lost a couple inches, and the Flying Lady (also known as the Spirit of Ecstasy) became 20% smaller. This was the most significant facelift the car ever got in 20 years, and it came very late in its life.
The Mk IV was known as the New Silver Spirit/ Spur as the number four had negative connotations in some overseas markets. Only 221 Mk IV Spurs were made right hand drive. According to DVLA data tracked by registries like The Classic Valuer, there are fewer than 200 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur models spanning all model years remaining on UK roads (including those currently SORN). A vast majority of the surviving UK models are earlier Mark I, II, or III variants. The Mark IV remains exceptionally rare. The ‘How Many Left’ website suggests there are only 21 on UK roads and 26 SORN as at Q4/ 2025.
The Mk IV introduced a low-pressure turbo to the marque, but mine is one of the very few built to 1995 + specification that did not have this fitted and therefore is a lower maintenance risk. 6. 75 litres of V8 power is more than adequate anyway and makes my car even rarer.
I bought the car in early 2025 with only 18, 000 miles on the clock, the previous owner having done only 3, 000 miles in nine years of ownership. As the fourth owner, I have done 6, 000 miles in the last 18 months alone but it remains probably the lowest mileage Silver Spur IV in the UK by quite a margin. Rarer still! In today’s money it cost £360, 000 new, £115, 000 at the time. Since acquiring the car I have addressed issues arising from its prior under use and toured around the UK and Europe in reliable, serene, quiet comfort and it always attracts admiring comments.
On the principle of ‘one in, one out’ the time has come to reluctantly pass it to a new custodian as a new arrival beckons. I am a member of the Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club, the Bentley Drivers Club (I have an Arnage), the JOC, JEC, Goodwood, Brooklands and others. Having owned 53 cars in 52 years of motoring, I am somewhat an addict!
The private plate does not come with the car and it will revert to its N registration. However the rear seat cushions are included!
