Restoration and history
Taken off the road in January 2008 at 79, 839 miles, the car underwent a full restoration including a complete respray, documented in photographs. It returned to the road in May 2016 at 80, 300 miles.
The accompanying file includes purchase details, numerous receipts and correspondence with Janspeed from 1988.
Care and maintenance
I purchased the Capri on 26 June 2018 and have covered only around 3, 000 miles. I have invested over £10, 000 during my ownership, including approximately £3, 000 with Capri specialist Tickover in 2018 and 2019, Grey Goose Restorations in 2026 £685. 00, Wilson Healy, Local Engineering Firm £670. 00 and most recently GS Classic Fords Ltd, £6527.
The wheels were restored, all tyres replaced and the gearbox refurbished in 2019 with Tickover.
Recent work includes a major service in January 2025, a tracking check, a £1, 200 full stainless steel exhaust in May 2025 and a replacement fuel pump later that year. The fuel metering unit and warm up regulator were refurbished by Grey Goose Restorations in early 2026. A running fault persisted and was subsequently traced to a defective coil and numerous other issues which have now been fully completed by GS Classic Fords in Runcorn, Cheshire from May to October 2026.
Further preparation included an inspection, rectification work and rolling road tuning of the fuel metering system and anything else that needed doing as mentioned in the costs above.
Condition and reason for sale
The car is now in excellent mechanical condition, with an MOT until 28th May 2027. The bodywork is very good overall, with some areas that could be improved on this 42 year old classic. My wife uses a wheelchair and can no longer get in and out of the car, so it is time for someone else to enjoy and preserve it.
Genuine enquiries welcome. Viewing strongly encouraged, with a test drive by arrangement.
It's the car you always promised yourself! A very rare, Turbo fast car and an appreciating classic Ford. An amazing unique car that will put a smile on your face and those around you.
