Imported into UK 1990. Only 2 UK owners - present owner almost 36 years.
UK speedo fitted reads 9, 931 miles to replace original KPH speedo which reads 7, 368 Kms (see attached photo), so total mileage approx 14, 500 miles.
Fabulous, flexible and tractible, middleweight machine.
Re-commissioned in May 2026 after 26 years off road (garaged). Very good overall condition. MoT'd to 29/ 06/ 27. Extensive file of invoices/ service history.
Complete with RD500 handbook, tool kit and genuine Yamaha RD500LC workshop manual.

The best, most enjoyable bike I've ever had. Gorgeous looking machine, much more flexible and predictable power delivery than one might expect from a high performance stroker. Been to the IoM 4 times, 3 times with a pssenger, and bike equally at home cruising steadily 2-up with luggage or more spiritedly solo using the full rev range.
Superbly engineered bike, with many delightful features like the dual function water temp/ fuel gauge, adjustable front fork preload and anti- dive front brake/ forks. Folding kickstart is wonderfully thought out and fabricated.
The lightweight alloy frame is beautiful.
