Model History: The Ferrari BB 512i (Berlinetta Boxer 512 Injection) is a milestone in the history of Ferrari. Introduced in 1981, it represented the ultimate evolution of the BB range, launched in 1973 with the 365 GT4 BB. Like its predecessors, the BB 512i boasts a sculptural design by Pininfarina. The low lines, retractable headlamps and wide side air intakes bear witness to its resolutely sporty character. The BB 512i's main innovation was the introduction of Bosch K-Jetronic electronic fuel injection, replacing the carburettors of previous models. This 5-litre flat-12 engine develops 340 bhp, offering remarkable performance with a top speed of around 280 km/ h. The BB 512i marked the end of the Berlinetta Boxer series. Ferrari produced around 1, 007 examples between 1981 and 1984. It was replaced by the Ferrari Testarossa, but will always be remembered as one of the purest and most emblematic GT cars of its era. Today, the BB 512i is a prized collector's item, appreciated for its rarity, its timeless design and its role in the evolution of mid-engined Ferraris.
History of this Ferrari BB512i: Delivered new to Monaco by Monaco Motors in May 1984, then shipped to Mr Paul Novelly (Apex Oil company) in Missouri, we have all the import documents from 1984! In 2006 when the car was changed hands its odometer showed 10, 952 km, and since then we have a complete follow-up of the car with several maintenance invoices. In October 2017 we also have a "Technical Inspection" from Ferrari New York indicating 12, 606 km before the purchase by its last owner. In 2023 the major service was carried out including belts, clutch and various peripheral elements. It had 14, 352 km at that time. Body: Beautiful deep black bodywork with excellent door and bonnet adjustments. The Nero finish is rare compared to more common colours such as Rosso Corsa. Upholstery: The white leather upholstery is in excellent condition, with a superb patina. The carpets and door panels are clean. Engine: The Ferrari BB512i is powered by a 4, 943 cm³ (5-litre) Flat-12 (12-cylinder) engine. Bosch K-Jetronic electronic fuel injection distinguishes it from previous versions with carburettors. This engine develops around 340 bhp. Previous owners have regularly serviced it, and the major service was carried out in 2023, including replacement of the belts, clutch and various peripheral components.
