Description
Maserati 4200 Trofeo / 2003
Clear history
In 1998, Maserati unveiled its new sport coupé: the 3200 GT, designed by Italdesign’s Giorgetto Giugiaro studio, to whom the Trident brand had already entrusted the styling of the Ghibli, Bora and Merak models. The 3200 GT stands as the first model to be entirely conceived and developed after the company was taken over by the Fiat Group.
It is the first Maserati to receive a Ferrari engine, inheriting the volcanic 4, 244 cm3 V8 from Modena developing 390 horsepower, also installed a year earlier in the Maserati Spyder. The car went on to enjoy meteoric success.
To mark the moment, Maserati decided to relaunch itself in competition with a model far more refined and developed to take part in the famous 24 Hours of Daytona. This authentic racing GT has competed several times in championships under a gentleman driver who wanted something different from the others and had it pink-wrapped; the car has never suffered a serious accident and remains in perfect running condition; it has to this day retained its battle-scarred livery in a private collection. Now eligible for the most prestigious events on the historic calendar, this Maserati Trofeo is an entry ticket to Daytona Classic as well as the Master Endurance Legends dedicated to prototypes and GTs from 1995 to 2011.
Rare, high-performance, reliable, beautiful and easy to handle, the Maserati 4200 is ready to hit the track in the best conditions and for the greatest delight of its driver.
