During the period 2017-2020, the car was upgraded to a high level.
The engine was completely overhauled and rebuilt, the SPICA fuel injection system was overhauled by the world's best specialist in the United States and the suspension was improved with a Montreal handling kit developed by Harvey-Bailey, former Autodelta driver and suspension expert. In addition, the transmission and brakes were rebuilt, Bosch fuel pumps were replaced with Walbro pumps and the exhaust was renewed.
The bodywork was restored in places and given a stunning new paint system, the seats were reupholstered in beige leather and the dashboard instruments were overhauled.
The cost of all these improvements amounts to about €50, 000. It is easy to understand that this Alfa Romeo Montréal runs, handles, shifts and steers perfectly!
The V8 sounds impressive, the 5-speed ZF gearbox shifts gears quickly and precisely, and the driving experience is wonderfully balanced between sport and comfort. Oh, we love these cars! The Montréal was designed by Bertone as a futuristic concept car (based on the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 racing car) and exhibited at the Montreal World Auto Show in 1967.
In 1970, the concept materialised under the name Alfa Romeo Montréal with a 200 hp version of the Tipo 33 engine mounted at the front.
The Alfa Romeo Montréal is a superb Gran Turismo capable of covering long distances at high speeds, with great passenger comfort and enough space for their luggage.
