Description
This first-generation Citroën ID19 is unique.
Delivered to its first Parisian owner on 18 July 1962, it bore registration 9831MP75.
Ten years later, it was taken back and sold to another Parisian, living in a different arrondissement. Its registration then became 3847BL93.
The car was driven until 1981, as evidenced by the sticker on the windscreen, after which it belonged to a collector in Dordogne.
The odometer showed 78, 592 km, mileage probably original.
The ID19 was stored dry, among other cars, for more than 40 years.
In 2021, this jewel was discovered and transported to the Netherlands. (Photos available.)
Rust-free, it boasted an excellent-condition chassis. It also features aluminium bumpers, a synthetic rear window, a large white-wrapped steering wheel and fine options such as bumper protectors, a radio, a mechanical immobiliser and additional headlights. In the Netherlands, the car was restored and professionally repainted in its original shade, anthracite grey. The original blue Helanca upholstery was revealed under the covers.
After obtaining a Dutch registration plate, substantial mechanical work was carried out: ignition 123, new carburettor, brake overhaul, exhaust, Michelin tyres, fuel pump, water pump, suspension ball joints, tank, etc.
Today it presents as a magnificent, straight, unrestored, weld-free and reliable car. Admittedly, a drop of oil hangs from the bottom end, but after 63 years, that’s normal.
All original keys are present.
The hydraulic system is in excellent condition.
Power steering is absent, hence the large steering wheel.
